This year’s CoastalWestSussexMind Impact Report 2014 highlights how appropriate support can make a real difference to people who are experiencing some kind of mental health problem.

The report was published at an event for World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2014 where  speakers told us about the importance of support from Mind, friends and family in their recovery from mental illness.

The report uses personal stories from clients to illustrate the impact Coastal West Sussex Mind has made on people’s lives. Click on the links to individual stories on the  lefthand side or read the quotes below:

Linda: I started working with a peer mentor, challenging my anxiety around shopping alone. I attended the women’s group; I found this extremely difficult at first but soon started to feel less alone with the experiences and struggles I face.

James: Working at St Winefrides and the Orchard helps me to give back to the local community. It also helps me to go forward with my mental health wellbeing.

Sarah: It was lovely to be part of the Littlehampton Town Show. It was such a positive day where we felt part of the community and we raised £150 for Coastal West Sussex Mind. Making and selling my cards gave me confidence, excitement and motivation to do more.

Lorraine: As a family we were worried about mum’s withdrawal and obvious unhappiness  but thanks to you we have some of her old self back. She will never be cured of Alzheimer’s but at least she’s happy now and that is thanks to you and your colleagues.
